    Hello everyone,

I have 10.5.4 server setup with several 10.5.4 clients setup.
Until recently I had each client bound to my Open Directory master through directory utility.
When I re-imaged the machines their bind to OD can no longer be seen through directory utility.
So I went into Workgroup Manager and deleted the old machine records. After I did this I tried to rebind the machines but I get a message that I will be overwriting a previous
record.(this is strange since I already deleted the record) Then I clicked okay to overwrite the record and it froze for a few seconds before giving me the error message that
the record could not be overwritten and that the bind failed.

If anyone has an idea as to what the problem is or what the solution is it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Did you find a solution to this?

I’m having the exact same problem, dsconfigldap says a computer record already exists (although it doesn’t), then fails to overwrite it.

Funny thing though, even though the computer record doesn’t exist, dsconfigldap creates it, but then says it doesn’t exist…

Re-imaging the client computer fixed it in my case. So something seemed to be messed up at the client side, any ideas on what it could be?
