    I can not connect from a tiger client machine to a sharepoint off of a panter server, but I can connect to it via a panther client.

    I authenticate and it just hangs and never mounts to the client.

    Have you checked in /Library/Logs/AppleFileService/AppleFileServiceAccess.log or /var/log/system.log for PasswordService requests to see if the server is seeing the authentication?
