We’re seeing a weird problem that is only affecting Tiger clients talking to Tiger server via AFP and http when using the DNS name.

Whentrying to connect via AFP Tiger clients immediately receive a dialog box stating the server can’t be found and to check the IP address.

When trying to connect via HTTP the server can’t be found.

If the Tiger client connects via Samba (with DNS) it works. If the Tiger client connects via AFP but uses the IP address it works.

Panther clients and Windows clients have no issues what so ever.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? Thanks.

Well not quite the same, but perhaps related. I have set up a Tiger server with AFP sharing. When I try to connect to it with a Tiger client (via the Finder window), it shows the server, but then says that it can’t be found. All the 10.3.x clients can connect to the server, the Tiger client can connect to the 10.3.x clients’ shared folders, and if I try to connect to the server from a 10.3.x client with the 10.4 clients user/pass, it connects without any problems?!?! I haven’t been able to try it with another Tiger client yet.

The client has now been updated with the 10.4.1 update, released this morning, and it seems to work now Big Grin
