I was wondering if any of you guys can help me out with setting up OD and have it auth with client machines on Mac OS X Leopard Server. So far I configured my server with the following:

    Network info:
    ip address: 192.168.1.2
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    router: 192.168.1.1

    DNS service is setup as:
odm.myserver.com – and it has a forward and reverse lookup zone pointing to the name and ip address

    Open Directory:
OD Master – but Kerberos is not running ?????
LDAPv3 and it’s search path are correct

When I get to this part I am lost. I cant auth any users that I created with WGM

With whats mentioned above, does anyone have a step by step guide on how to make a OD master and have my computer ( Mac and Windows ) auth. and login as a network user! Any help would be appreciated.

Did you make any changes to your clients search policy? You’ve got to add your server into the search path so that the clients know to look to the server for accounts.

If you’re running 10.5.x on your clients run /Applications/Utilities/Directory Utility.app and add odm.myserver.com to the list of servers (which should be empty). Save your changes and, to be safe, restart the client Mac. You should now be able to login with WGM accounts.

    Hey bschappel:

I did make the changes to each client machine and still I cant login as a standard user. Plus the the activity gel ball is always yellow and states only some network accounts are available. Any insight would be helpful and if there is a step by step guide online somewhere please share the link.

    thanks.

Resolved. I re-did the server and everything worked.
