I have completed a fresh install of 10.3.8 Server, using John DeTroye’s setup giude. Everything appears to be working as it should.

The only services I have enabled are AFP and Open Directory.
DNS is handled by another server and appears to be OK.
    KDC is running.
Permissions on User home directories are set properly.

When I try to log in to Network Home Directories, authentication is good but I get the error about the directories being on a SMB or AFP volume, and I can’t log in.

The only unusual thing about my setup, is that the home directories are on a separate partion from the server software. The urls and file paths are all correct in Workgroup Manager however, and I am stumped.

If it matters, the path is:
    Network/Servers/domain name/Volumes/data/homes/
    And I’m sharing:
    /Volumes/data/homes/faculty
    /Volumes/data/homes/students

The user directories are previously existing home directories.

Need some help. There are those who are becoming impatient. 🙁

    Thanks,
    Dan Jewett
