Switching servers

I just got a new xserve & xraid and looking to switch from the current one. I setup the new server as the replica. I now need to switch ip and domain name. what would be the best next step? set the info in dhcp server, release the ip from the old server and run changeip on the new one with the old server’s info. since this is a new server anything can be done to it just didn’t know the easiest way of getting the OD info on the server without using replication.
