we recently relocated two xserves 10.3.9 to a new building. They now sit behind a cisco switch, and went from public ip to private ip . We did a changeip command and everything looked fine… but the connections from the clients to the server (all behind the firewall and under private ip) are unbearably slow. In fact it’s so slow that they’re useless.
The clients are using the private ip in directory access
one thing I notice is that the servers can only ping themselves by private ip and not by public ip or hostname (using ssh to login to them).

    Anyone had this problem before?

As MacTroll mentioned, it’s likely your DNS.

You went from a real IP which should have proper reverse resolution to a private IP that does not (unless you specifically set it up).

Your contacts the DNS server, says ‘Hey- my ip is x.x.x.x, what is my host name” and gets a dead-end answer.
