    Howdy all,
I’m trying to piggyback an Xserve on an existing NIS domain in order to allow:
    1) users to set up and use Blojsom blogs
    2) Log in to any OSX box that is bound to the Xserve
    3) Use iChat
all using the authentication data stored in the NIS domain.

I’m having quite a bit of difficulty finding any solutions to my issue, either here or via a wider Google search.

So here’s my question: is there any way to use an OD server to supplement NIS user records to allow for this sort of thing? Any way to manage Mac preferences for NIS accounts, preferably on a user-by-user basis?

Or will I have to create yet another account and password for my users to remember?

Well darn. I’d obviously like to move in that direction long-term, but in the short term, if I attempted anything similar, I would probably have a wholesale user revolt on my hands. *sigh*
