I just got a couple of Mac Minis and both are doing the same bizzare thing. After installing the OS (10.4.9) and all the updates, I log off the admin account. When I try to log back on, the password no longer works. But wait … that same password works for authenticating with ARD, works for logging in via SSH and works for ‘sudo’ when logged in via SSH. The only place the password does not work is from the login screen (no, caps lock is not on). Booting from the CD and resetting the password does not help. So far the only way I have been able to fix the problem is with an erase/install. Then it will work again for a short time before reverting to the same behavior. Has anyone else encountered this? Anyone have any ideas? TIA.
