This is something of a strange problem. We have two labs of Macs running 10.5.4 bound to a 10.4.11 ODmaster. Users have network homes on various 10.4.11 file servers.

Most users can login just fine and everything works, however some users as soon as they attempt the login are given the shaken login screen. There is nothing in the logs on the ODmaster password server, it is as if an attempt was never made. On the clients there is nothing in the system or secure logs to show a login attempt.

If I ssh into the client machine, I can su to the affected user so it seems like there is nothing wrong with the binding, could there be a problem with loginwindow?
Quote by: MacTroll[p]You can su with a password? Or just su from root?

Typically if auth works, but the loginwindow shakes you off it’s a home directory issue.[/p]
Even it were a home directory issue, shouldn’t I see an attempt to auth first? Also, the network home server in question (10.4.11) has three network home shares on it. Some of the accounts are fine, I’m wondering if this could be a problem with automount.

I am having the same issue with a 10.5 client logging into a 10.5 server.
i have a segment of the network where after the first user logs in , no one elses network accounts will login.
it just gives the shake of denial. Everything seems bound ok , and their accounts log into their home folders everywhere else.

(don’t let me get this off topic if i seem to have a completely different problem)
