    Hi All,

Can someone share out some advice on how to solve some of our issues on Leopard Print Service.

First problem we had is when adding a printer on a client from a Print server the driver is not detected as it is, it will generally use the generic postcript driver which if you use it, you will not be able to print. I remember back a month ago that it will auto detect its driver when adding from the print server.

Second problem we had is when we add a printer from a print server and specify its correct driver we can be able to print but most of the printouts are outside the specified paper like when we print from word document with header on it, the header will be printed in half. Thus we are saying that it does not print correctly. When we ty to print the same document and added the printer directly using bonjour/appletalk it print outs correctly.

Thirdly some of the printouts are not printed on the correct printer like when we specify to print on printer1 its prints out to printer2.

    here is our setup.

    Leopard Mac OS X 10.5.5
printers are added on server systems preferences

    the printers are:
HP Color Laserjet 2840 added using bonjour
HP Color Laserjet 5550 added using Appletalk

    Created the following queue
HP Color LaserJet 2840 Server to print using the HP Color Laserjet 2840
HP Color Laserjet 5550 Server to print using the HP Color Laserjet 5550
all of this queues are shared via IPP/Appletalk/LPR

Hoping that there is someone who could help or point out some more information on Leopard print Service.

I rely solely on IPP for my printing needs, as this protocol supports the distribution and ‘locking’ of print drivers from the server to the client.

With LPR or Bonjour-printing the user is able to change the print driver for an incorrect one of his own choice, whereas IPP supports the download of drivers from the server to the client without enabling the user to override this choice on the client.

The only problem I’ve discovered so far is the need for users to enter Page Setup and choose the correct printer to be sure the formatting is done according to the PPD from the server.
