I have just purchased a X Server 10.4 MAC OS. I am trying to serve a movie (product demo) from the apple server to the internet. I placed the file in Library\Webserver\Documents\Demo_1.mov
Inside the network it starts to play right away, but outside the network it downloads the whole movie before it start to play. It is a 18 MB file. Is there a way to speed this up for the internet? My upload speed is 800KB.

With such limited upstream bandwidth, the only way to speed viewing for people on the Internet is to encode your movies at a lower resolution, lower bitrate or both. How many simutaneous viewers do you expect? Your not going to be able to service many on 800kbps.

Well, the movie will be serving, hopefully more than 100 people at any one time. I created a link directly to the apple server of

    http://www.prolinqdemos.com/Demo_1.mov

What kind of bandwidth would i need to serve this movie appropriately?

    Thanks for replying
