Hello,
I hope someone can shed some light on this for me because I’m at a loss on how to resolve this. For the last couple of days, once or twice a day my G5 Xserve encounters this servermgrd error and all of my connected users get the Spinning Beach Ball Of Death for 5 to 10 minutes:

Dec 5 10:28:38 xservefs servermgrd: [28830] error in getAndLockContext: flock(servermgr_netboot) FATAL time out
Dec 5 10:28:38 xservefs servermgrd: [28830] process will force-quit to avoid deadlock
Dec 5 10:28:38 xservefs launchd: com.apple.servermgrd: exited with exit code: 1
Dec 5 10:28:38 xservefs launchd: com.apple.servermgrd: 9 more failures without living at least 60 seconds will cause job removal
Dec 5 10:30:41 xservefs servermgrd: servermgr_dns: hostname and DNS entries for this server are synchronized
Dec 5 10:30:45 xservefs servermgrd: TIME-CHECK: NSLXStandardRegisterService took 125.894081 seconds!n

A few of my mobile users have also lost their dock and side-bar configurations as well. Does anyone know what causes this and how to resolve it? This is new to me.
Best regards and thanks in advance to those of you who might have solutions for me.

I’d imagine you’re looking for something else. Running NetBoot?

Not running NetBoot on this device. It’s pretty much just AFP, DNS (local), OD and SMB. I am also using this for portable home directories.

I did read somewhere, either here or in the Apple Discussions, that it might be a problem with a connected Server Admin app on an admin client. I’ve turned two instances of the application off on clients and I’ve not heard anything from any of my users since. Maybe this has resolved the problem.
