Not sure if this is a DNS issue, LDAP or something else, but workgroup manager shows the account locations to be in places other than where they are supposed to be – they appear to be moving around.

Here’s the setup: 10.3.3 server on a G5 with several multihomed IP addresses on en0. Say I set up the server on 192.168.1.27 when it only has one IP address. Everything is fine. Workgroup manager shows the account location as 192.168.1.27/LDAPv3.my.server.com.

Once I start adding more IP addresses to en0, the account location shown in workgroup manager moves to random addresses I have configured, such as: 192.168.99.27/LDAPv3.my.server.com.

I can’t quite put my finger on the problem. Any ideas what is causing it or how to make it stop?

Home directory locations under the HOME tab also show the new locations.

When I add the new IPs they are not at the top. The original 192.168.1.27 is at the top and the others were added below.

I’m not sure what you are asking about directory access.

The ldap directory configuration I use is referenced by its name, and that resolves back to the main .27 address and the open directory option is what I( go with. Contacts and authentication go to the sanme place.

I have made no additional enteries in the LDAP directory for the additional IPs. One, I’m not sure what they should be, if any and two, I have had a devil of a time getting any mapping changes to write back to the server. What is the trick there?

    thanks

    OK, thanks.

Is this something I configure in workgroup manager with inspector, or do I do it in directory access? Is the entry field called server?

This brings up another setup question that has been bothering me. This was a clean install and I didn’t ever migrate from netinfo to ldap, but rather I started with ldap and all of the core stuff — users such as mail, etc – remain in netinfo.

Did I miss the boat somewhere? Should the netinfo data be transfered over to ldap up front?

The answer is probably rightin front of me, but I do not see where I do this.

I tried renaming the ldap from a dns to 127….. but that didn’t do the trick.
