Has anyone seen this? I just tried to make an image with this order:

    10.5.0 DVD
iLifeSupport 8.2.1 (shown as 8.3 on website)
    AirPortUtility 5.3.2
    RemoteDesktopClient 3.2.2
    QuickTime 7.5.5
    iTunes 8.0.1
    Mac OS X Compbo 10.5.5
    Front Row Update 2.1.6
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2
    Security Update 2008-07

The resulting disk image will not boot. If I remove the Security Update, then it creates a bootable disk image.

I listed Front Row, Java, and the Security Update after the 10.5.5 combo because those 3 are not even available until you install 10.5.5.

I have a radmind transcript of the unbootable image, and I’ll be making a transcript of the working one (without the security update), and I’ll be able to post what the differences are when I make it (fsdiff is running now) but I’m just wondering if anyone has seen this or found out what is wrong already.

How stupid. So I went and looked at the other posts that show similar problems. It looks like installing the wrong security update is a common problem. So I checked myself. Well, it turns out that on Apple’s website on the download page, it lists the security updates, but it doesn’t make it obvious which version the update is for, 10.4 or 10.5, you have to view the detailed description to see. Sure enough, I installed the 10.4 version on my 10.5 disk. Dur.

not that this has any effect on your current (self resolved, good work) issue…. but you may want to double check the order of your updates.
Mine run a little different, and I created my (non-canonical) list by building a base image,, burning it to a machine and running updates via apple software update, copying down the order, until there were none left.
The differences may mean nothing, or it may mean that some small item in the background gets changed in the wrong way…..
    my order is
    10.5.5
    airport utility leopard update
    remote desktop client
    front row 2.1.6
    QT755
    itunes
    java update 2
    ilifehelper
CUSTOM PACKAGES (that you might care about)
    java se6
    etc……

I wonder if I am missing something in my order, if you ar emissing something in yours, or if it does not matter at all
