A little background, we had an older 10.3.9 PPC Xserve sharing out a Raid that was completely searchable by our few clients that are still running OS 9.2.2. This past weekend we upgraded our aging hardware with a new Xserve running 10.4.9 on intel. We used the same Raid. I did downgrade the AFP app to the 10.4.8 version so our OS 9 systems can transfer files but for some reason anytime they try to search the Raid with Sherlock 2 it errors out. I’m at a loss here. Everything is configured the same way as it was on the previous XServe but it won’t search. It errors out saying something to the effect of “search cancelled because of errors” and then it returns no results. Any possible insights? I don’t know much about OS 9 so I’m having a hard time determining if it’s the upgrade to 10.4 that broke it or the change to intel or jsut a setting that we are missing.

If this is the wrong forum please forgive me. 😆

Did you find a solution to this problem? I just installed a Mac OS X Server 10.4.10 at a customer and their Mac OS 9 clients cannot search an AFP share, though Xsan is not present in this case.

Is it possible that searching is affected by the TCPQuantum setting?:
