i have finally gotten amavis, clamav, set-up as described in afp548.com.

my new problem is that i can no longer use sasl for login purposes.

i am using md5 challenge response.

i can send mail via the server, email are being processed coming in but i can not log in and check the mail.

i hoping that someone has some insight on this. i know i haven’t provided my info. i will login later and provide some logs.

okay, so i turned off sasldb authentication and all works well.

i can now login and check the mail.

the only problem is that i do not want to create a new account for each email user i have.

also there is an issue of security if you don’t have sasldb method turned on.

what are the other methods to use. i can not authenticate on ip addresses because clients could be checking mail from anywhere.

i also have to support mac and windows email apps. mostly outlook and apple mail.
