    I have tried everything I can think of… have read hours, and hours worth of related posts on here, and across the interwebs, and I cannot for the life of my figure out why this is happening.

    Retail copy of 10.5.6 installer, with a retail copy (does not require a serial #) copy of iWork ’09. (The client does have a site license BTW)

    I have built a modular image manually, and using InstaDMG version 1.4b4.

    Every time, the OS install is good, the applications are present, but when trying to open the apps you get the message “Files that iWork needs are missing”.

    I have tried the iWork installer in the CustomPKG folder, the BaseUpdates, and BaseOS folders.
    In a DMG, and in it’s native mpkg format.

    I have extracted the four pkgs from the mpkg and tried them individually.

    I have even used PackageMaker to capture a snapshot of an iWork ’09 installation. Nothing works.

    I have found this: http://code.google.com/p/instadmg/issues/detail?id=18
    but none of the solutions seemed to solve my problem.

    Any ideas at all? Apologies for the distressed tone, but I am losing my mind on this one.

    Thanks =)

    Jon

    Hey Jon,

    I resolved this issue by copying the file com.apple.iWorkInstaller.plist from /Library/Preferences on a machine with a working copy of iWork 09 (installed from the retail package) and putting it into a package using PackageMaker. I then included this in the CustomPKG folder after iWork installs. The difference between the working and non-working plist was the item “InstallMode” on the working one said Retail, and the non-working one was blank.

    Hope that helps,
    Jason

    Thanks for the reply. Actually, in my specific instance, the issue ended up being with the version of InstaDMG I was using. I was not apparently installing all of the application components into the Disk Image (it broke the iWork install on the host the image was built on).

    I was able to resolve the issue simply by using a more recent version (svn) of InstaDMG with the same exact built train. The newer version I believe used the chroot for all of the installs.

    Thanks!
