Restore OD master from replica

Folks, I’m severely stuck!

I recently applied the 10.7.2 updates and upon reboot, the OD master would not start and it seems I’ve managed to corrupt the master DB. For some reason, the backup failed and the master backup is too old to be of any use.
I do have a few replicas which have DB’s that are synced uptime the reboot of the master, so recent enough.

Would the following be a feasible/advisable approach?:

Promote an existing replica to master.
Wipe the old master and configure it as a replica.
Promote the newly created replica to master.
