Recover Open Directory from system files versus backup files

Just had a catastrophic crash of Tiger Server. Unfortunately, out OD backup files from tape were bad. This server functions as our OD, Email, and Webmail server. Any ideas on how to recover the user and group info from the actual HDD files? Os will not boot, but server HDD files was saved.

Everything on the web points to a backup file for restoration.
