Hello,
This morning our server had a strange moment, some users couldn’t login, people already logged in were unable to open any files. They received a message saying that the server was unavailable and that we should check the ip.
Turned out that the directory access binding to active directory was messed up, so I unbound the server and rebound it, I also Trashed the prefs in /Library/preferences/Directory Services. after that everyone could get in again, cool.
However, since then I’m getting the following error when I try to view the LDAP directory in workgroup manager on my osx server.
The record with the type "presetuser" is not mapped
If I use workgroup manager from another mac I can get in and see the groups, BUT when I try to add a user I get
— The attribute with name "GroupMembers" is not mapped for the record type "Groups"
When I’m in workgroup manager on the server and I select the LDAP directory : /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 I get the messages about the presetusers and presetgroups.
However If I choose Other, then browse to /LDAPv3/192.168.1.1 (the address of the xserve), everything works ok.I can even add users to groups.
Somethings happened overnight as I can also add users to groups when I use workgroup manager from another mac, from another mac it connects via 192.168.1.1. So it looks like there’s a problem when I try it from the xserve using the local address.
Even though everythings functional (sort of)I’d Like to get to the botom of this, It’s abit worrying when the directory starts to spasm.
Thanks very much for any help.
