RAID Mirror as a Share Point of an AFP server

hi all,

I can’t make up my mind. Will it be good if I setup a software RAID mirror drive to be used as an AFP share to our server or just use a single drive and used it as and AFP share then have a second drive and use a backup utility to mirror it?

or should I avoid software RAId mirror as we are having issues before (software RAID mirror setup) some of our external drives that all of a sudden it becomes degraded but later fix when we restarted the server

the sharepoint will be use for Adobe files (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, pdf), Microsoft Office Files, picture files and keynote files.

need advice..
