Hi Everyone,
I work in a mac support company and recently went to a school to discuss connecting their suite of macs up to a mac server and using the Golden Cylinder to authenticate users to their own home directory.
We were going to set this all up so that all files were kept on the server…(mac server)
The windows home folder would mount when they logged into the macs as a network point on the desktop…
We were going to image one mac and distribute the image to all macs etc…
Not having heard back I called the school up and some other company have done the installation so that the windows home folder is mounted as the mac home folder IE just plain old AD authentication using the windows home but syncing it to the macs…
They have completely left out the Mac server apart from mounting it as a place to drop files.
Worst of all they have taken 4 DAYS to do this !!!!
It seems they persuaded the school this was the best way to go !
Has anyone got any reasons I can give as to why a mac server is best for Macs and not to use a windows home ???
Thanks…
