I am having trouble getting a wildcard domain to work on server 10.2.5. The DNS record seems to be set up properly. We have two A records for our domain: domain.com and *.domain.com . nslookup resolves the IP address for either domain.com or any *.domain.com (like alpha.domain.com, beta.domain.com, etc.).

On the server end, we set up a virtual host domain.com (using Server Settings). Within the VirtualHost directive, we have added ServerAlias *.domain.com. Pointing a browser to http://domain.com brings up the home page. Pointing to something like http://www.domain.com (or any other *.domain.com), however, returns a server not found error.

Any ideas what we might be doing wrong? Has anyone else had success with a similar set up?

    Thanks,

    Barry Berenberg

IIRC you can’t setup wildcard domains using the GUI tool. You need to set it manually by editing your httpd.conf.
