Joel,
I need some help. I have your article on ‘Five Cool Things to do with CUPS’ and can’t seem to get the print to windows printers feature to work.
I have quoted the section that seems to be giving me trouble:
> Now start up printer sharing from the Sharing Preference Pane. If you have
> already started it, you need to turn it off and then on again for CUPS to pick
> up the changes. Go back to the CUPS web interface at http://127.0.0.1:631.

My question concerns the exact values that need to go in the URI line shown above:
Is the user:password item a user name and password set up on the windows machine? I am running XP Pro, and have two users set up on the computer, but have not set up users and passwords as we think of on a server.
Is the workgroup the workgroup name on the windows machine?
Is the server a name or an IP address?
Is the sharename the name given to the printer when setting up sharing on the windows machine?
Can you give me a real-world example?
Sorry for the questions, I am new at windows and CUPS, for that matter.
Thanks,
Sid
