ParticipantI recently got myself a D-Link DWL-900ap (specs at: http://www.dlink.com/products/wireless/dwl900ap/SpecsTable.htm ) wireless access point (it was a steal at $50 and has good range) to be connected to my Blue and White G3 running Mac OS 10.2 Server which is connected to an Epson Stylus C62 which I have been sharing via the Rendezvous sharing (as turned on in the sharing system preference).
I use my iBook running Mac OS X 10.2 with this wireless network. After setting up the DWL-900, everything worked great (it’s so nice to be able to go anywhere on our property and have my network!), except print sharing. I can ping across the network, iChat in Rendezvous mode works fine, afp, samba, NAT, etc. The DWL-900ap does not pass AppleTalk packets, but I didn’t think this would be an issue as OS X doesn’t use AppleTalk except for legacy compatibility.
When I try to use print sharing, the following happens: I can see the printer in Print Center but it just sits there a while and eventually tells me “Unable to connect to IPP host: Undefined Error: 0”. This is so odd because I have never had issues with print sharing and everything else works.
I’ve tried sharing the C62 printer from both the printer sharing function in System Preferences -> Sharing and Server Setting -> File & Print -> Print and both have the same issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions or steps I should take to troubleshoot it? You might want to check out the DWL-900ap specs (link above) as it does only pass certain types of packets from the wired network to the wireless network.

ParticipantI have a wireless network set up in my house and I print to my HP connected to my imac over the network using CUPS. It works great and I haven’t had a problem yet. There are very good directions at this link:

ParticipantMookie2mt: The link you gave me doesn’t seem to be working. Can you re-post it?
I was afraid I might have to do this, I think in order to do CUPS, I’ll have to use Gimp-Print, which based on my tests, seems to have significantly worse quality with my printer (Epson C62) than the Epson drivers, according to my tests.
Also, with my access point, the last one had a defective chipset (very wacky problems) and I have a new one now – warranties are Good Things. But no changes on the printing, even though the access point is working properly.

ParticipantWell, I think I figured it out (it’s working fine so I seem to have). I am using Gimp-Print and CUPS and am printing using IPP over HTTP. Works great, although I am stuck with the Gimp-Print driver which isn’t the best for photos from my testing. Still not sure why I couldn’t print with the Rendezvous print service.
Any thoughts on print quality and Gimp-Print?
