I have a PowerBook G3 Pismo 400mhz 512mb 8gb. Then I have a White ibook 700mhz 256mb 20gb. The powerbook would be a great test machine for my webstuff so i can test it out befor i put it on my main server wich is off site always(some where in texas). So I desided that my pismo400 would make a great test machine becuase I carry between home& work anyway. They both have airport cards and I have a wireless network but at home and at work. So here is my big problem.

After it has installed it wants to run the Mac OS X Server Assistant. I get past Identification,Keyboard,Security then I come to networking i just leave Macintosh as the hostname and that stuff becuase I havent desided it’s name.

This server will always be using DHCP and some times ethernet some times not normally not. I cant assign them IPs becuase they swich networks so offten and my homenetwork is 192.168.*.* and my worknetwork is 10.0.*.* so it’s imposible for them to come close to matching up and switching profiles is to much work. So I just uncheck TCP/IP on both ethernet and wireless figuring i can fill that out later and chose DHCP in system prefrences.

So then when it wants to know about Services i picked Apple File Service and Web Service. It then wants my QTSS information wich I didnt check as a service i want to run but i fill it out with my admin information.

I then finish date & time.

I go onto Finishing UP i then press goahead and it gets so the blue bar is right under the third “s” in “assistant” in “The Server Assistant is configuring your server.” then it sits there and hasnt moved yet it still does it’s movment look but it dosnt actually budge.

I will leave it runing over night and hope it finishes. If some knows what is going on and posts befor I go to bed I will appricate it.
