Hi Guys, MacBeAdmin here
I have a really weird case happening on my mail server.
I had to stop the mail service a few times to fiddle with cyradm and some nasty mailboxes.
Now that everything is back up, my postmaster account is not working anymore.
So before :
– General pane of SA : Copy undeliverable mail to : postmaster@mydomain
– In /etc/postfix/postalias : “root: my_mail_admin_account_shortname” & “postmaster: root”
And now… :
– General pane of SA : Copy undeliverable mail to : postmaster@mymailserverhostname
– In /etc/postfix/postalias : “root: my_mail_admin_account_shortname” & “postmaster: root”
–> Which leads to this line in the system’s log :
“lmtpunix[5431]: warning: unable to post message for user: postmaster, mail is not enabled for this user”
–> However, In SMTP log, the message was treated & sent (no mention of delivery to /dev/null or so…)
“postfix/smtp[5420]: DB0B6199041: to=, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1], delay=5, status=sent (250 2.6.0 Ok, id=03262-10, from MTA: 250 Ok: queued as 7F13C199065)”
“postfix/qmgr[5137]: DB0B6199041: removed”
Short info’s on the setup itself :
The server is servicing as internal DNS + OD Master + Mail + File & Print ; OS level is 10.4.7
The domain in use for the server is local and matches the one we bought
We do not have a fixed IP to the outside world nor the need to have mail for that domain other than inside
Our company domains (2 of them) are hosted externaly at ISP
We get the mails in (POP type) via Fetchmail and relay SMTP to our ISP server
The mail service is running virtual hosting for those 2 “real” company domains
All our aliases (local & virtual) are postfix style
Any idea’s ? – Running without working postmaster is not my cup of tea (luckily the domain is purely internal).
PS: Sorry for the post as Anonymous but my account has some troubles as well it seems.
Looking forward to your answers and to meet some of you @ the Networker’s retreat next month.
