Postfix problems..

I’m having trouble getting my new mail server to run correctly. It’s running Panther Server on a dual 2 Gig G5 as a stand alone server.
I recompiled postfix to version of 2.1.1 and cyrus sasl version 2.1.18. Same problem as the stock version, errors come back “relay denied” when sending to users on the server and passwords are not accepted when trying to send mail out. Though all accounts work fine when logging in through squirrel/webmail.
All I need is for PC users to login on the local network using their POP accounts to retreive their mail. Everything was fine when I was using sendmail in jaguar on another box. What am I doing wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I vote for a basic PostFix setup in OS10.3 Server and troubleshooting article in the future.
