I have a weird problem with another server (a client of course) that any messages that come from them get rejected with the follwing message:
Nov 2 10:31:44 uniquedata-2 postfix/pipe[6727]: 195159618F: to=, orig_to=, relay=cyrus, delay=1, status=bounced (data format error. Command output: matwyn: Message contains invalid header )
No indication of what was wrong. However, I also got this message sent to my .Mac account and that came through, after a long delay, with the following additional header:
Received: from (x.x.x.x) by foo.com via smtpid 0449_55485018_4b91_11da_94e9_0002b3ee5659; Wed, 02 Nov 2005 12:11:01 +0100
Date-Warning: Invalid date header replaced by ms45.mac.com; original content: 02-Nov-2005 10:24:23 GMT
According to RFC 2822 Section 3.3, dates can be in either of the 2 formats above (long or short). So why does Apple’s Sun IMS (that always makes me frown by the way!) that runs .Mac mail feel the need to change it.
If that is the reason why our 10.4 box is rejecting it for the same reason, then does anyone know how to get Postfix to accept different date formats. I’ve looked at main and master.cf as well as looking through the docs on pipe and can’t find anything. Heeeelp!
I’m cross posting this on Apple Discussions as well.
Cheers in advance
