The following article suggestions were posted elsewhere and are being copied here for posterity and as a reminder to current and future authors…

As for something I’d personally like covered – I’d like to know more about .login and rc scripts. A few things I’ve wondered about: What’s the best way to add something to the environment for all current and future users across all shells(like a PATH modification)? Where’s the best place to put things that should happen at system boot time instead of at console login (like setting up firewalling rules)? What’s the difference between .login and .tcshrc (for a tcsh user)?

Stuff I would like to see in the future:

    1. Dealing with the built-in Firewall
    2. LDAP
    3. An understandable explaination of how to configure and use NFS
    4. Basic and beyond NetInfo
    5. Quicktime Streaming using QTSS

If the opportunity permits I would love to see something understandable about NetBoot and Mac Manager.

Oh, and let’s not forget how to install and configure an OS X Server based BBS.

    LDAP
    Netboot
    ASR with OS X
    QT Streaming

ANY Netinfo tips/tutorials/software. Examples of how to manage groups (why 16 groups per users limitation???), users, passwords, logons, etc.

OS X Server is great but some useful functionnalities of ASIP are not implemented in the “new” Admin GUI… from APPLE, the same company… or is it?

ASR – For OS 9 I went thru hell trying to figure that out. I still can’t. I used DiskCopy for a while to make .img’s of entire hard drives Dantz Retrospect is much better. I use it like it’s Norton Ghost though.
