I know this is probably a really simple question. That’s probably why there is utterly 0 information on the net about how to configure and use your iChat server. But nonetheless, I’m stuck…

I have an OS X server, running iChat service, for our AD domain. It originally started as just a nice convenience for a few Mac users and I, but now I have some PC’s that I want to connect. So, I figure ‘hey, its just jabber, how hard can it be?’.

Well apparently harder than I thought…

I have downloaded a few different jabber clients for PC, and tried plugging in the info on my server, and nothing happens, it tries to connect for a microsecond, then stops. No errors, nothin. I check the iChat log, and there is no change. I have to supply the address of my iChat server manually, since its not registered as the ichat service for the domain (the domain spans many divisions of my company, and this is really just a little underground project of mine), but I supplied that, in both settings. Mac, no problem, Pc, problem. Any ideas, or resources?

I got it – the PC was defaulting to TLS, had to switch to SSL. My bad! Thanks so much :).
