I use an iBook with Panther at my school. We are thinking of getting eMacs for our Art Department. However, we have a mad system whereby all computers must be loaded with WinSuite so that on logging in you only get access to your own area. When I log in on my iBook I see almost everything. We can’t have students being able to do that!
Is there a way of preventing people doing Apple-K and accessing pretty much everything by doing something to the Macs? (I know that really the server should be better set up but throwing that in the face of the administrator is not going to endear him to my cause of getting eMacs in place) Is there a way of having managed accounts on each eMac that disables logging in to the network server except by a shortcut that doesn’t allow you to ascend the file tree structure?
I would be grateful for any help and my students will be thanking you if they finally get to find out what OS X is instead of using XP.
