So far so good with InstaDMG. After years of imaging with the jenga method, this new approach is very exciting.

My question doesn’t so much have to do with InstaDMG as much as with the packaging of certain files.

I’m having trouble getting Composer or InstallEase to package up a custom VMware virtual machine. I followed the instructions at http://www.jamfsoftware.com/kb/article.php?id=084 to no avail. I just end up with a 68K package (which is about 9122543.2K too small by my calculation). Has anyone had any luck getting this to work? And if not, are there any successful workarounds that you’ve come across? I was able to zip the vm and package it that way, but unzipping in the Finder take longer than just downloading the VM as a post-install action so I don’t really want to do that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    joe

Hrm. A bit surprising that no one else is deploying VMware out there so I’ll just leave a quick note that I fixed it with a simple ditto to /Users/Shared/Virtual Machines during the InstaDMG build process. Probably more ideal anyway since packaging up such a large bundle may be prone to error.
