How are people creating the (empty) Office 2008 folder (from the site license version, naturally) with PackageMaker for putting into InstaDMG? I am following Microsoft’s deployment guide, and I had the bright idea to just copy the entire folder but remove the apps so the icon would be preserved as well as the invisible files in it, but it didn’t come out retaining the icon.
While I’m asking for input, how are people packaging iLife apps, preferably separately(I only ever want iPhoto) so there isn’t 4 GBs of samples and themes? I had a slight issue with InstallEase but was successful, nevertheless I was hoping to accomplish the package creation with Apple’s tool.
Also, is it best practice to package for 10.4, as 10.5 seems to make flat packages by default, which are harder to peer inside?

Thanks for any input you may offer, even links to where you’d lmgtfy are greatly appreciated.

Hi there. Not sure if i can be of much help because it’s been a while since i’ve touched on this stuff.

For Office 2008 (Site License) i use the .mpkg supplied by MS with no modification at all.

For Office 2008 Updates, I wrote a small script to remove the file location check which fails with InstaDMG. I patch
my updates and add them into my InstaDMG build.

For iLife i use the supplied package and a choices.xml file to de-select things like garageband that I don’t want.
I haven’t re-packaged iLife to omit the samples, im sorry.

Mostly the office stuff is untouched. Let me know if i’ve totally missed the point or you’re trying to do something different.

for these installers as well. Thanks for answering it like a serious question, when it was me who wasn’t getting the point! Cheers,
