I have a G5 with OS X Server installed. I have installed another network card into the G5. This is in Slot 2, Port 2″. All Internet is to come through this interface. All local network traffic is to go through the built in internet interface.
In order for this to happen, the built in ethernet interface must not have a router address in the router field. The Router address in the external interface is set to the ADSL router ip address. This allows the machine to access the internet without a problem (NAT is turned on and the connection shared is the external intrface – Ethernet Slot 2, Port 2).
I then try to setup home directories in workgroup manager, but it seems that ldap only wants to bind to a network card that has a router address set. This means that when users login to machines on the internal network – they try to connect to home folders on the external interface. This does not work!!
Has anyone done this before ( I followed instructions on this page : http://macosx.si.umich.edu/public/viewHowTo.php?HowToID=46 ) and had any luck??
