    Hi all,

I’ve got a custom install of Office 2008 going with prefs going out via MCX. All application prefs work as expected on the clients except the First Run (com.microsoft.office.plist). Even though it explicitly declares a value of 1 for First Run, it still runs when you attempt to open an Office app the first time.

I’m running 10.4.11 on Server and client both. I’ve tried applying it at the machine list and group level and on both Often and Always settings.

Has anyone else come across this?

    Managing Office 2008

    com.microsoft.office:
    2008\FirstRun\SetupAssistCompleted
    Value: 1
    State: often

    Works for me…

I finally figured this out. I was having the same issue myself when installing using Microsoft’s installers, but I finally nailed this down.

You need the key that Greg mentioned in com.microsoft.office.plist but you also need the following:

    2008FirstRunSetupAssistCompleted
    1

Once you have both in there, you are golden!

It only took 1.5 years to fix this one 😀
