What changes can we expect on the open firmware replacement called EFI? And the boot process? Does `nvram -p` still work?

Man I have so many questions… is it true that you can boot in target disk via USB?

    I can’t wait for the next Xserve….

No, you can’t boot from USB AFAIK. The same old Target Disk Mode via Firewire does still work, though.

EFI information can be found here at the official site and also here
That should help answer some of your questions.

According to the EFI spec you should be able to boot from USB devices, but maybe Apple just hasn’t implimented that yet.

I’m curious to play with one of these units. I read through most of the EFI docs and presentations last night and it looks pretty interesting.

I guess no more forth versions of pong will be running on the new hardware Frown
