Hello Everyone I want to thank you all in advance for helping me out with this issue. First here are the specs of my configuration.

Servers
Xserve G5 Dual 2.0 /1.5TB/1GB Ram
3 Mac Pros 2 TB (each are software raided to mirror Drive 1 – Drive 2 and Drive 3 – Drive 4)
(4 – 10.5 Server Unlimited)

Clients
(50 Intel iMacs assorted Models with 10.5 and 10.6 Client OS)
(10 Unibody MBP with 10.6)

Network Setup

17.XXX.XXX.1 (Router/DNS Hardware Cant Change)
17.XXX.XXX.2 (Xserve G5)
17.XXX.XXX.3 (Mac Pro 1)
17.XXX.XXX.4 (Mac Pro 2)
17.XXX.XXX.5 (Mac Pro 3)
17.XXX.XXX.20-100 (Clients)

I work for a school that has a IT department who are scared of Macs Period. We have them but they really do not offer any support what so ever. So I do not have access to my Schools DNS servers to add my servers. We do not use DHCP but manual IP which are recorded to the Mac Address for security purposes.

I would like to create this setup, let me know if I should change anything since I am here for help.

Xserve G5 (OD Master, DNS)
Mac Pro 1 (AFP or NFS for the network home folders for the Staff)
Mac Pro 2 (AFP or NFS for the network home folders for the Students)
Mac Pro 3 (OD Replica)

Currently I have no issues setting up DNS and getting FQDN for all 4 servers, but when I go to a client that has been bound to the servers and try to log in I can’t “Unable to log into this user at this time”. If I log into a user that the home folder resides on the OD Master it logs in with no problem.

First how am I suppose to connect the File Servers to OD? (Directory Utility or make it a OD Replica) When I go to File Sharing I can see the Directory Users and Groups but I am unable to login via AFP from a client to any of the file servers except the OD with a network user.

Connect the servers to OD just as you do any other client computer; use Directory Utility. Once bound to OD the OD logins should start working.
