    Ok

Sooooo I was able to get VPN up and running from my house to the office LAN.

But, while I’m connected via VPN, I can’t surf, or send and receive e-mail.

I have no idea if this is “normal” behavior or not.

While I’m connected to the office LAN via VPN, should I be able to continue to surf the net?

Yes. Do you have your network routing definitions right on the server?

    Actually

I was able to fix it two ways…

In case anyone is interested here’s how:

Bascially, when you connect via VPN, all the traffic goes to the VPN server, including requests for web pages, e-mail… everything, which the VPN server doesn’t know how to handle.

To prevent this from happening, on the OSX Internet Connect app, go to Connect>Options, and UNCHECK “Send all traffic over VPN”

This will only send VPN traffic to the VPN server, and all other reqests will go thru your normal ISP.

AND, if for some reason you do want all the traffic to come thru the VPN, on the VPN server, click on Settings>Client Information, and in Netowrk Routing Definations, I have two entries:

    Network Address: Network Mask
192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0, which is set to PRIVATE
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0, which is set to PUBLIC

So now, its possible to pull web info thru the VPN if you need to/want to, and possible to get it from your local ISP, generally much faster.

    Thanks for your help!

Now if only I could get the XP client to connect…..
