ParticipantIs it possible to set up networked users without having OS X server?
From Directory Access Help:
[quote:818c15a247]Shared domains generally reside on Mac OS X Servers because servers are equipped with the tools, such as Workgroup Manager and Server Settings, that facilitate managing network resources and network users.[/quote:818c15a247]This seems to suggest it can be done, but I can find no help on how to do it.
thanks in advance

The nidomain utility will allow one to create multiple
levels of NetInfo hierarchy, but it is not a particularly
easy way to do it. One should use the NetInfo Manager
application for setting up multilevel hierarchies.

Is it possible for you to be a little more specific?
Thanks

ParticipantNot really. I know I have seen it somewhere. Try googling. It walked you thru how to setup a “network” domain in NetInfo on the OS X client. And then you just had to setup Directory Access like you normally do with OS X Server and it worked.

Thanks. I believe I can find the way myself now when you gave me some keywords, I had been searching for “distributed netinfo domains” etc, so just knowing the terminology makes it probably easier to find what I look for.
I have also found this link

which looks promising.

This will allow you to add users and groups from the command line, and delete them to with less commands than the built in tools that apple gives you. -
