We have several network printers running on a 10.4 Xserve. When any of the leopard client machines goes to sleep, the printer list will be blank when it wakes up. You can go ahead and reinstall them and they will work fine, untill the next time your machine goes to sleep.

Or you can wait for 10 – 15 minutes and all your installed printers will re-appear in the list as they were before.

Apple says that the difference between Tiger and Leopard is that Tiger uses Cups to update the list and Leopard uses Bonjour. They told me that it must be a problem with our 10.4 server (which still works for everything except Leopard clients).

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks

I’ve seen the same behavior on Leopard clients with printers plugged directly into them. Power cycling the printer usually fixes it (temporarily).
