    Hi,

We have a small network with a osx 10.3.5 server and 3 10.3.5 clients. We set it all up a month ago, and after a bit of confusion and some good help ( we’re quite new to network/server setup) we got it all up and running. Then we recently had to fully reinstall the server, and after doing that we cant get the network users to work properly. We can logon the servers sharepoints using connect to server, and our network users.

The server is set to opendirectory master, and the LDAP seems to be set up just as before. On the client machines we’ve set the LDAP settings in Directory Access to “from server” and used the servers IP adress (without afp://first), this doesn’t work..

    from the system log:

Sep 6 17:05:32 localhost DirectoryService[205]: InitLDAPConnection or ldap_init failure: Logging Failed LDAP connection with incomplete data
Sep 7 06:35:32 localhost last message repeated 324 times

After we reinstalled the server there has been a slight lag when loging in to workgroup manager, that was not there before, could it be that it has some trouble finding the server, and that it gives up to easily in the login?

tried to folow a link to afp548.com by Matt Riley, but the link doesn’t work.

    I’m confused..

You problem may be that the clients have cached some information that may not be true with the new install unless the machine name and IP are perfectly identical as are a bunch of other things.

First, try using LDAP settings manually rather than “from server”. All you need to know is that the LDAP Mappings are “Open Directory Server” and that the base suffix should be something like “dc=example, dc=com”

Then if you still have problems try deleting /Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos

It’s my guess that the server is not supplying the base name suffix properly.

    Tony
