Network home directory showing IP in address, not DNS-resolved name

I have a client that just had their DNS go down. Since then, they’ve been having problems with their OD — specifically home folders for new users not being created in the Network Automount. When the client goes to recreate the network automount, it recreates, but with the IP address in the automount name, rather than the DNS resolved name.

It has been confirmed that forward and reverse lookups have been entered. Things look ok at that end.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The OS is 10.4.2.
