We have had a quick look at creating a netinstall image as we preconfigure a lot of machines for new installs and repairs. Our requirements are not huge but hoped someone could tell us the quickest and easiest way to achieve the following without user intervention after starting the process:-

    1) Format Internal drive
    2) Install Leopard
    3) Install latest combo updater
    4) Install iLife
    5) Create admin account
    6) Change location of software update server

We have tried a few goes with System Image Utility, we can create the image, when we use the image half the stuff doesn’t appear to happen, some does. Occasionally we will get a Kernal panic when trying to netboot.

We wish to install this via netinstall off out Xserve running LeopServer 10.5.4

Any words of wisdom will be gratefully received

Check out http://www.bombich.com and look for a program called NetRestore.

Create your image with InstaDMG (admin user can be added with the createUser.pkg addon), then deploy it with NetRestore.
