Ok we have 300ibooks that we need all identical so we in the past have used Carbon Copy Cloner to cloner the ibooks to be all the same. We just received all our 10.2 server licenses so it’s time to try out this new stuff.

A net boot image can have applications and settings in it? A net boot image requires an Internet connection the entire time? Do we have all the users setup on this image than the students type in their password? To have 300ibooks would this require more than 2 g4s with dual 1ghz?

A net install image can have applications and settings net install image doesnít require an Internet connection and it is just installing it self onto the target computer? Does it give us warning messages that we might be breaking licensing if we donít have a site license like we do?

I, too, would like to know what the server requirements would be for implementing Netboot. While my user base would be less than 10 users sharing the same OS setup, what would the disk space/RAM requirements be?

If I’m not mistaken, once the machine has contacted the server and booted, there is no real “load” on the NetBoot server, is there (ie. server-side processing)?

    Cheers.
