Need some setup advice for AD Integration

Goal: Macs bound to AD and OF
-AD for Login
-OD for Machine / User Preferences

So far I have everything setup and mostly working. The problem is with being able to define user preferences in WGM for the AD users. I guess at this point I’m just confused as to what is the correct way to do this.

If I click on a AD user in WGM and try and set Preferences I get errors (actually I get errors when I click the preferences button) I thought that might be a 10.5 problem so I tried with a 10.4 server and I get errors when trying to save.

So then I hear about these Augmented Users while looking around today, but I cant seem to find any info about them. I created one and tried to set preferences for it and it errors when I try to save.

So basically, what is the correct way to manage user preferences for AD logins?

Create groups in OD. Assign AD accounts as members. Affect changes to the OD groups.
