Mail service has become completely unstable on a 10.3 server we took over (the previous admin had the server rebooting three times a day to keep it up- something was definitely up). So we’ve been directed to move to the 10.4 server platform (we already had the unused license) this weekend.
Here is my plan of attack for the 10.4 server:
-create all the user accounts (posted in OD forum about exporting/backup/import/restore)
-turn on mail service to make sure its operational for users. turn it off again.
-copy the /var/spool/imap directory to the new server’s matching location.
So here are my questions:
1) the Mail store should be portable, correct? Since both servers use cyrus I should just need to move the mail store from one machine side to the other
2) How do I make sure that I’ve got everything in the to be delivered cache? Where is that, and can I just move that over to the same location on the new server?
3) any other issues I should be aware of?
Thanks for any assistance.
