I was following the instructions on how to set up NAT on a 10.2 Server and it just wont seem to work for me. I am running 10.2.3 Server on a G4 Tower computer. I get though setting up the DHCP just perfectly. I have my built-in ethernet plugged directly into the T1 router and all our local clients connected to an Asante PCI NIC card. The DHCP is working properly and it is assigning the addresses properly. Now here is where things stop working. I have followed the directions in your article exactly, but yet every time, after re-booting the server, the internet stops working completely (for the server box and the clients). I cant understand what the trouble is exactly but it appears as if no data is being transmitted across the built in ethernet. I can plug the T1 into the PCI card and configure it the same as the built in card and then the internet starts working, but when i plug the T1 back into the built in with the exact same setting nothing happens it is basically dead. On the Ethernet router i can see a green light that is indicating a physical connection but the data transfer light never blinks. It does blink when the system is booting but as soon as the start up message displays “Starting NAT” the data transfer light stops blinking. Please let me know if you can think of anything that could help to alleviate this trouble.
