Multiple-issue weirdness with Tiger

Hi,

I just did clean install of Tiger (had been running 10.3.9 before) on an XServe (Slot-loading). I have a couple of issues with it:

1. It won’t authenticate with the directory server (that server is running 10.4.2 too). I can set up the connection record, but no dice; it just will not authenticate. Logging in as a directory user on the directory server works, so the records are OK.

2. The webserver will not accept connections on any IP address (including localhost) or name I throw at it. DNS is working flawlessly.

This used to work brilliantly before. Firewall is off on both servers.
Any ideas?
